A report from the National Education Association reveals that the teaching profession is struggling to provide role models of both sexes and all races. In fact, teachers are predominantly white (90 percent) and female (79 percent). Since 1981, the ratio of male to female teachers has steadily declined - it now stands at a 40-year low (21 percent).
More than ever, the teaching profession has a number of opportunities for the right candidates. One way to increase your potential for advanced positions in the teaching profession is through education degrees such as a master of science in education or a master of education.
