Computer programmers must constantly stay on top of new and evolving technologies in their field. Web developers and programmers are no exception - they too have to stay abreast of new languages that advance their field.
Earn your BS or AAS online at Westwood College of Technology. Courses are instructor-led and designed to give you the real world training you need.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics emphasizes the need for computer programmers, including those working in web development, to remain current on new programming languages. These skills can be acquired through a web development training program.
As you decide on a training program, you'll need to know some of the popular web programming languages that are used today, those in which you may want to be conversant.
HTML
This is a language used in web development in which World Wide Web documents are written. It allows written text to be visible in various fonts, styles, and formats and enables links to appear. Markup tags are used to tell the browser how to display a document. Don't confuse HTML with XHTML, the latter of which is an extension of HTML that is used with standard XML tools.
PHP
PHP is a web development language that enables programmers to create dynamic web pages. It is an HTML embedded scripting language that can be used to edit and create web pages in the same fashion as you would with HTML.
Java
Java is a cross-platform programming language developed by Sun Microsystems, which is used in web development applications. Javascript is a programming language developed by Netscape Communications that is used to create interactivity in Web sites. Jscript is a version of Javascript created by Microsoft, which runs with Internet Explorer.
C#
C# (pronounced see-sharp) is an object-oriented web development language derived from C, which shares similarities with C++, Java, and Visual Basic. It was created by Microsoft as part of its .Net initiative.
Other languages, such as ASP and DHTML are also used in web development. Getting web development training or enrolling in a web development program will provide the opportunity to become conversant in these languages as well as the others listed above. Such training could position you to secure opportunities within the web development field.
